UPDATE: Taxi boss shot and killed on N2 near Scottburgh

The victim has been identified as a taxi boss.

UPDATE, 4.25pm:

Provincial Saps spokesman, Colonel Thembeka Mbhele, has confirmed that a case of murder has been registered with the Scottburgh Saps.

The motive for the murder is still unknown and the case has been transferred to the Provincial Taxi Task Team for investigation.

“The 45-year-old victim is a taxi boss from Amandawe, affiliated with the Vulamehlo Taxi Association,” Colonel Mbhele said.

He was shot while driving and subsequently lost control of his vehicle.

No arrests have yet been made.

ORIGINAL STORY:

ER24 Paramedics rushed to the scene of a shooting this afternoon where the wreckage of a bakkie was found on the side of the road.

The vehicle was found on its roof and the sole occupant was found dead. He had been shot in the head.

“The exact details are still unclear but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” said ER24 spokesman, Russel Meiring.
