Guns and drugs seized in dawn raid on South Coast homes

The firearms will be sent for ballistic tests.

TWO people were arrested in the St Faith’s and Port Edward areas in the early hours of last Saturday.

Officers from the Public Order Policing (POP) Port Shepstone project team and Port Shepstone Crime Intelligence section, acted on information received and descended on a house in St Faith’s.

This firearm was seized at a house in St Faith’s last Saturday.

“A .38 special revolver was found in possession of a 23-year-old man who could not produce a licence. He was arrested and will appear in Port Shepstone court soon,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

” Police also found another firearm, a pistol, a magazine and six rounds of ammunition in a backpack in a cupboard. This firearm was licensed, but was not kept in a safe and was confiscated.”

The team, together with officers from Port Shepstone K9 unit, also arrested a 35-year-old man in Port Edward last Sunday for being in possession of 325 capsules of heroin worth around R14 625.
