Fun, fashion and flair at Port Shepstone CC’s ladies’ festival

Port Shepstone Country Club pulled out all the stops to ensure a successful tournament, once again.

AS always, there was quite a buzz at Port Shepstone Country Club last week, for the annual Ladies Festival played over two days.

On Day 1, the local team of Yzelle Greyling, Debi Stewart, Kim Strauss and Sandi Burger scored 91 points to take the lead and also win the PG Glass Ball Challenge with 39 points.

In a tie for second on 86 points were two Southbroom Golf Club teams.

These comprised Jean Cole, Sandy Fitzgerald, Di Morris and Augustine D’Ewes, as well as Gertrud Kok, Margreth Stollinger, Anitha Landolf and Heather Anderson.

On Day 2 the scoring wasn’t quite as good from the leaders, but it was solid enough for them to keep a healthy lead.

Winning the day on 88 points and finishing second overall were Gertrud, Margreth, Anitha and Heather.

Yzelle, Debi, Jim and Sandi had 87 points to finish second on Day 2 and win overall.

In third spot on Day 2 were Elsie Pretorius, Joan Minnaar, Lexley Lewis and Monica Hulley.

Overall: 1 Yzelle Greyling, Debi Stewart, Kim Strauss & Sandi Burger 178 points; 2 Gjertrud Kok, Margaret Stoellinger, Anita Landolf and Heather Anderson 174 points; 3 Joan Solms, Lorein de Wit, Lorein Slabbert & Pam Sanders 167 points; 4 Linda Rybicki, Helga Wepener, Rina Rito & Heleen Hissey 167 points; 5 Jeanette Peyios, Allyson Thomas, Shirley Jeffery & Geraldine Treherne 166 points.

In other news at the club, Ken Morris is March’s monthly mug winner at Port Shepstone Country Club.

He produced a superb nett 67 to beat all-comers, on a day where there was some fine scoring.

Three players had nett 69 in the A-division, with the countout favouring Sanjay Singh, then Ganes Munsami, and finally Phil Myburgh.

Andrew Maree was a clear winner in the B-division on nett 68, followed by Gordon Dickson on nett 70, who counted out Louis Klopper.

There was a tie on nett 68 in the C-division with Ewald Ziervogel winning the countout over Dr Ayoob Bux.

Peter Stoppel was third on nett 72.

Graham Fabricius had the best gross, a disappointing 71 by his lofty standards.

Mug of mugs winner was Ewald Ziervogel

Adriaan Schonken won the individual Stableford division on 40 points, two ahead of Anne Baldrey and four ahead of Jesse Verster.

The previous Wednesday’s alliance was won on 90 points by Phil Myburgh, Paul Bunge, Dave Mee and Rob Calder.
