CRIME is rife within the Umdoni policing area and it seems that locked doors, dogs and daylight are no longer deterrents to criminals.
While at home with her two small children, a 28-year-old Oceanic Grove, Park Rynie resident heard a loud noise coming from the direction of her front door around 1.25pm last Saturday.

Thinking that it was most likely her dogs, she ignored the noise and only became concerned when she heard something fall.
“She went to investigate and found a man in the passageway,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.
According to the woman, the intruder was armed with a gun ordered her to remain quiet, threatening to shoot her if she shouted or screamed.
She locked herself and her children in a bedroom and activated the panic alarm.

After some time had passed, the woman ventured from the bedroom and saw that the man had fled with a flat screen television. Entry had been gained by breaking through the bottom half of the lounge stable door.
No arrests have been made as yet and anyone with information is asked to contact the Scottburgh SAPS Detective Service at 039 9781900/9954.
