Azalea swims to victory at Jai Hind Primary’s gala

Pupils and parents enjoyed a fun filled day at the school's swimming gala.

JAI Hind primary hosted its annual interhouse swimming gala last Friday. It was a fun filled day with a large contingent of parents turning up to support their children. Excited pupils were given a delicious doughnut and a refreshing soda to start the day.

Azalea house emerged as winners with an astounding 76 points. They were followed closely by Protea with 60 points. Jasmine was in third place with 58 points and Zinnia finished in fourth place with 52 points.

The schools’ governing body initiated the new infrastructure upgrade and has successfully installed the new aluminium cover over the stadium in the pool area, giving the pupils much needed relief on hot summer days. The aesthetically appealing revamped swimming pool area has become the pride of the school.

Medals were awarded to winners in the respective divisions. “Swimming as a life skill will be valued deep into pupils’ adult lives,” said teacher Nirvana Nankoomar.

“Jai Hind is proud to develop such a skill in its pupils,” she said. Congratulations to the swimmers and sport co-ordinators Ivan Govender and Teddy Moodley for putting together a well co-ordinated programme.
