No water ‘hell’ for patients

Hospital management claims that numerous attempts to get help from the municipality have been fruitless.

PATIENTS at Murchison Hospital have been without water for weeks making their lives a ‘living hell’.

Anyone with an ounce of compassion can understand how difficult it must be for sick patients, however, the MEC for Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, told journalists it was not his problem.

Many areas in the Ugu District have had water breaks – some lasting for days – over the past few months. But for a hospital to be without water because the municipality does not bother to fill their tanks is a disgrace.

Hospital management claims that numerous attempts to get help from the municipality have been fruitless.

The municipality says it ensures that the hospital gets first preference when the supply is cut off.

Patients, their families and the hospital staff don’t agree.
