Held to ransom

We cannot go on like this.

AFTER enduring days of dry taps many believe that the South Coast’s water system is being sabotaged by Ugu workers.

These workers went on strike just before the start of the festive season and during their work stay-away pipes and pumps were sabotaged and municipal manager, DD Naidoo laid charges with the police.

While no one will, probably out of fear, officially confirm the sabotage suspicions, it would appear that the workers are holding the municipality to ransom.

One of the reasons given was that overtime has been cut. Workers apparently only want to fix burst pipes after hours.

Another gripe is that some of the work has been outsourced.

These sabotage allegations need to to investigated urgently.

And if workers have been tampering with the infrastructure they need to be held accountable.
