NEWSFLASH: Gunmen kill another ANC councillor
He was shot dead just after a public meeting had adjourned.
YET another ANC councillor has been gunned down.
Harding ward 3 councillor Alwyn ‘Ace’ Houston was shot and killed last night, apparently shortly after addressing a public meeting.
“We were all shocked, more so because there were threats made during the recent by-elections held in ward 1, and there was talk then about another by-election’ that would be held in less than three months’,” said a source.
Barely three weeks ago, ANC PR councillor Thembinkosi ‘Commando’ Zoleka was gunned down at his home in Margate.
And prior to the local government elections, Ward 1 Harding candidate, Bongani Skhosana was also gunned down in his Santombe home.
ANC Lower South Coast members have raised concerns over the ongoing political murders.
Spokesman, Councillor Sipho Dlamalala said political disputes have always been there, but the manner in which they are being handled is shocking.
“Life has become so cheap, how did things get out of control? We hope the police will make a swift arrest and that witnesses will come forward to help identify the suspects.”
The ANC LSC Regional Executive Committee is set to visit the scene and and the slain councillor’s home today.
