Meet Ugu District Municipality’s top brass

The municipality has 35 councillors and seven of those sit on the executive council.

THE Port Shepstone Civic Centre was abuzz as Ugu announced its much-anticipated ‘top three’ last week.

Former mayor Ntombifikile Gumede was named as the new speaker for Ugu’s council; her successor as mayor,  Tolomane Mnyayiza with Mondli Chiliza retaining his position as deputy mayor.

Ugu has 35 councillors, seven of those on the executive council. There are 14 proportional representative councillors, 10 councillors from Ray Nkonyeni municipality, eight from each of Umdoni and Umzumbe and three from Umuziwabantu.

Municipal manager, DD Naidoo, wished the new councillors well and applauded the previous council for its hard work.
