Held hostage for five hours

The man had a knife held to his throat and was ordered to remain quiet.

AN Eden Rock Forest Estate resident was tied up with a belt, robbed and held hostage for five hours on Sunday evening.

“The 46-year-old man was awakened at around 10pm by two men who dragged him from his bed onto the bedroom floor,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.

The man, who had a knife held to his throat, was ordered to remain quiet while the robbers proceeded to ransack the victim’s home.

The victim was at the mercy of his attackers for five hours, until they fled on foot at 3am the following morning, taking with them a flat screen TV, digital camera, laptop, cellphone and toiletries.

Having been left lying helpless on his bedroom floor, with his hands still bound, the victim managed to free himself and raised the alarm.

A case of house robbery has been registered with the Scottburgh SAPS and is being investigated by Detective Warrant Officer Yugen Moodley of the Scottburgh Cluster Detective Task Team.

It was later established that entry had been gained by removing louvre glass panels from a window.
