WATCH: Hog hell in Murchison

There is apparently no running water on the farm and food supplies from the owner have been very sporadic.

HUNDREDS of pigs at a ‘development farm’ in Murchison are allegedly being kept in such inhumane conditions that the SPCA is looking to close it down.

This following tip-offs about the ‘hog hell’ from concerned neighbours.

Meanwhile, several South Coast supermarkets and members of the community have rallied to help the SPCA feed the animals, some of which have already started eating their offspring.

The owner of the farm, who lives in Durban, has been ‘most uncooperative’ with the SPCA so far and slammed the phone down on the Herald when asked for comment.

There is apparently no running water on the farm and food supplies from the owner have been very sporadic.

The Herald found the pigs – many covered in sores – crammed together in pens with concrete floors, obviously desperate for water.

Bodies of piglets were found under the adults. Get the South Coast Herald tomorrow for the full story and shocking photos.
