Just In: Death toll rises to five in N2 horror crash
Police have released the names of two more victims.
MONDAY’s horrific N2 crash has also claimed the life of Qedisile Mavis Ngcobo (60) and her son, Wandile Cordian Ngcobo, (23), from Dumisa, Umzinto, who died in hospital.
This brings the total number of fatalities to five.
Colette Pistorius, was travelling with her three children, a friend and his two sons, when the collision between two vehicles, an LDV and a bus occurred on the freeway north of Umtentweni.
Colette, and her friend’s youngest son, Dandré van Jaarsveld (11), were both declared dead at the scene. In the second vehicle, Ntombizodwa Annacetta Mkhwane (53) died.
The Boksburg Advertiser reported that Dandré was a grade six pupil at Laërskool Baanbreker.
Dandré’s older brother, Johan (15), who goes to Hoërskool Oorsterlig, suffered a broken leg while Colette’s son, Evan Pistorius, who attends Laërskool Elspark, is in ICU.
Colette’s other children, Enja and Ian survived with minor injuries.
