WARNING GRAPHIC IMAGE: Foetus found at ‘The Block’

The photograph is NOT for sensitive readers.

A FOETUS was found at the sewerage pump house at ‘The Block’ on Port Shepstone beachfront earlier this morning.

The shocking discovery  was made by a municipal employee at about 8am.

When the Herald arrived at ‘The Block’ police and the pathologist’s van were seen leaving the area.

Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said police have opened an inquest docket and the case would be investigated.

The decision to publish the disturbing image of the infant was taken to reinforce the grim reality of unnecessary infant deaths around the country.

Police and emergency service personnel regularly find newborns abandoned at rubbish dumps, in litter bins and in pit toilets.

It is hoped that those who face an unplanned pregnancy will consider alternative options. So please take your time to investigate them all before making any final, possible fatal decisions.
