Thieves bite, stab to make their escape

The stolen items were later recovered.

BRAZEN thieves who bit a man (25) twice on the arm and then stabbed his friend (39) in the back have appeared in court.

The incident occurred in May this year when two men broke into a vehicle in Hibberdene and stole a laptop and some other items. The assaults occurred when the victims attempted to stop the thieves from fleeing.

Police later arrested Thembinkosi Goodwill Ngcobo (34) and Thami Sivion Mwandla (33) who recently appeared in court. The case was postponed to July 14.

Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said the arrests were made a few days later by  Detective Sergeant Eugene Blankenberg and his colleagues,  part of the Hibberdene task team. The stolen laptop and other items were recovered.

The victims thanked members of Hibberdene’s AZA Whatsapp group and Gladiator Security for arriving so swiftly and for being very helpful.
