Tail-wagging joy for Ninette and Barbara

BARBARA Egan and her deaf border collie Quinn showed that the inability to hear needn’t be a hindrance while competing at the recent Hibiscus Kennel Club show held at the Port Shepstone Borough Grounds.

The pair won two of the three events they entered. Quinn watches her handler meticulously and picks up all hand and body signals, a real delight to watch.

The club is happy to report that Blu, Jet and Shadow, the late Monica Lehman’s dogs, have settled in very well with Linda Liversey, and were at the show. Jet took first place in the non contact large section.

South Coast dogs competed in the Zululand Kennel Club and Northern Natal Kennel Club shows, held at Scottburgh Country Club recently.

The out of town judge certainly set up challenging courses. Nonetheless, the locals held their own and managed a number of placings.

Ninette Smith and Sparkle managed to place first in all six of the events they entered, also securing the title of dog jumping champion.

Page, owned by Heather Moorcroft, became a contact champion at the event.
