Boy (4) critical after near drowning at St Mike’s

This incident highlights the importance of knowing how to perform CPR.

BYSTANDERS helped save a young boy’s life when they immediately performed CPR following a near drowning incident at St Michael’s last Saturday.

Santi Steinmann, spokesman for Netcare 911, said paramedics found members of the public performing CPR on the little boy (4).

She explained that paramedics continued with CPR, and the boy responded favourably.

“The boy was treated at the scene and rushed to hospital for urgent medical care,” she said.

Ms Steinmann said this incident again highlights the importance of knowing how to perform CPR.

“The fact that bystanders immediately started CPR saved this young boy’s life,” she said.
