SIX men armed with firearms robbed a tavern in Nkothoneni near Margate of around R7 000 in cash and stock last Sunday.
Police spokesman Captain Gerald Mfeka said that, according to the owner of the business, when she locked up everything was in order.
“She left a 35-year-old man to guard the shop and went to sleep. At about 4am she was awoken by the guard who told her that the tavern had been robbed. He was assaulted and sustained an open wound on the forehead,” said Capt Mfeka.
The robbers fled with cash and alcohol. No arrests have yet been made.
