Islamic School rewards excellence

The annual matric awards dinner last Friday was in honour of 2014’s gr 12 pupils.

PORT Shepstone Islamic School entered 2015 on a celebratory high with the annual matric awards dinner last Friday. Hosted by the present gr 12 pupils, the event was meticulously planned. Guests were treated to a sumptuous 5-course meal, served in the school hall, which was beautifully decorated in azure blue. All matrics received gifts and certificates of excellence.

Ridhwaan Moosa, the dux of the Islamic School, achieved further honours. In addition to his distinction aggregate, he was nominated for the KZN Provincial Association of Muslim Schools (AMS) on the honours roll. Ridhwaan obtained the highest aggregate for Arabic, was placed third provincially for geography and featured 18th amongst the top 30 matriculants in KZN. AMS honoured Ridhwaan with cash awards and certificates.

The highlight of the evening was when matriarch, octogenarian Ayesha Bux presented Ridhwaan’s awards and it was not coincidence that Ridhwaan’s dux award was a Moosa Bux trophy. Moosa is Ridhwaan’s late, great grandfather.
