Drinking – on duty, and in full uniform
The Port Shepstone cluster commander has commended the whistle-blower.
SOUTH African Police Services say an internal investigation has been initiated after a St Faith’s police officer was found drinking, in full uniform and while on duty, at Phungashe bottle store one morning last week.
A concerned member of the public used their cellphone to snap a picture of Constable Siyabonga Sosibo while the officer was enjoying vodka and a cigarette inside the store
Major General Thembi Ndlovu, cluster commander of Port Shepstone, has welcomed the community’s efforts to expose this kind of behavior by on-duty police officers.
“We urge the community to come forward with information about corrupt police members, as well as those who neglect their duty and get drunk,” she said.
Maj Gen Ndlovu added the officer concerned ‘will be dealt with harshly’.
