Woman (22) gang raped

The woman was strangled and dragged to a nearby sugar cane plantation.

A WOMAN (22) was gang raped while walking home in Bhokosa near Mpenjathi, Palm Beachrecently.

The woman, a resident of Bhokosa, told police that she, together with two friends, were on their way home when they noticed someone following them.

“The girls started running but one fell while the other two continued running,” said police spokesman Captain Gerald Mfeka.

“A man caught the woman and strangled her so that she would not make a noise. The man then dragged her to the nearby sugar cane plantation where they were met by two other men. According to the victim, one of the men held a firearm and all three men were wearing balaclavas when she was raped by them,” said Capt Mfeka.

A rape case is being investigated by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit. No arrests have been made.

In another incident, a 21-year-old woman was raped at the her home in Ezinqoleni last Friday.

“It is alleged that the man forced open the door of the woman’s house while she was asleep. He then raped her and fled, ” said Capt Mfeka.

The man was later arrested by Paddock SAPS. The woman was taken for a medical examination.

He appeared at the Ezinqoleni Court and the case was postponed.
