HCM delivers projects

The community was given an opportunity to air their concerns.

A NUMBER of projects were officially handed over to various communities by the Hibiscus Coast Municipality during the recent mayoral imbizos.

HCM mayor, Cynthia Mqwebu, handed over projects such as the Masinenge Housing Project, Jericho Crèche, Matolwane Pedestrian Bridge, KwaSlwane Community Hall, Mganka Creche and Gamalakhe Community Hall.

“The aim of the imbizos was to give communities a platform to interact with the political leadership and the municipality,” said Ms Mqwebu.

The community was given the opportunity to suggest what it wanted prioritised in the municipality’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP) for the upcoming financial year’s municipal budget.

HCM manager Max Mbili also explained to the communities the amalgamation process of HCM and Ezinqoleni municipalities and asked them to assist the municipality in suggesting a new name.

Mayor Mqwebu also mentioned some of the projects which are at the finishing stages, such as Oshabeni stormwater works, Merlewood Mixed Housing Project, Link Road in Southbroom, Masinenge Slums Clearance Housing Project and Betania Sportsfield Station.

Other projects which will be handed over soon are Lamont Community Hall and Fairview Crèche, Mkholombe Sportsfield, Thusong Centre, Mncadodo Road, Thongasi Bridge, Mzotho Road Bridge and Mthombothi Road.
