Rising crime a concern in Pennington

Residents have been urged to be vigilant, take note of suspicious vehicles and their registration numbers and report any suspicious activity to security companies or the police.

CRIME is on the increase in Pennington,  according to a source who said that more than 50 cases have been reported in the area since September 1.

The source added that well-organised groups are believed to be operating in the area and multiple easy exit points make it a hot spot for criminals.

Criminals do, however, employ various modus operandi.  Scottburgh SAPS spokesman, Captain Vincent Pandarum, told the Mail that there is no evidence of gangs committing crimes in the area.

Since September 1, the period which has seen a serious spike in crime, four suspects have been arrested and linked to different cases.

The SAPS, however, are being proactive rather than reactive and have organised a meeting with Pennington domestic workers at Relton Hall on November 27 at 3pm. The hope is to get workers and residents to become more aware of suspicious activities in the area.

Residents have been urged to be vigilant, take note of suspicious vehicles and their registration numbers and report any suspicious activity to security companies or the police.
