Prayers for accident victim to pull through

Clayton Nicholson, who is formerly from Port Shepstone High, is fighting for his life in a Durban hospital.

Family and friends of Clayton Nicholson (25) are trying to remain positive about his recovery after he was involved in a horrible car crash just after midnight last Saturday.

Clayton, from St Mike’s, and friend Jeaan Schlehmeyer (25) left a wedding in Ballito and were travelling to their accommodation when they crashed into a tree, about 200m from the venue.

Clayton was thrown out of the vehicle and has been fighting for his life in ICU at General Justice Gizenga Mpanza Regional Hospital, formerly known as Stanger Hospital.

Jeaan, from Shelly Beach, is in the surgical ward, and has two bleeds on the brain. The right side of his body is in a ‘paralysed’ state but with the assistance of rehabilitation, he should make a recovery.

Clayton, a former Port Shepstone High learner, didn’t get off so lightly.

Despite being stable at the moment, he has frontal lobe bleeding on the brain, seven broken ribs, a broken right shoulder blade, injuries to the lungs, liver, kidney and spleen and an infection.

Clayton, who formerly ran a skip hire company is well-known and loved in the South Coast community, and his accident comes as a big shock.

Hi mother, Hayley thanks everyone for their incredible support and prayers during this difficult time.

“We can’t thank the doctors and nurses, and the wonderful South Coast community enough, for their support during this difficult time. We just ask that everyone keeps praying for Clayton to pull through this,” she said.

Jeaan’s fiancée, Savannah Levin is extremely grateful for the love, prayers and support coming in from all over the coast and surrounding areas.
