Plenty on the go at Margate CC

Countouts came to the fore to decide winners.

There has been quite a lot of golf played at Margate Country Club this past week.

The competition last Thursday was won on 40 points by Chris Nel, with Joe Espach next on 38 points.
Two-clubs – Frik van Zyl and Eugene Louw. Nearest the pin – Eugene Louw (4th), Chris Nel (11th).

Saturday’s betterball was won on 45 points by Willem Herselman and Frik van Zyl, counting out George Nagel and Allan Halvorsen.

Two-clubs – Pierre Malherbe (8th), Hans Beilhartz (4th), Arthur Ehlert (4th). Nearest the pin – Kim Howden (2nd), George Nagel (16th).

The women’s section was won by Wilna Olkers on 32 points, by two from Grace Fourie on 30 points.
Two-clubs – Wilna Olkers (11th), Grace Fourie (16th).

The women played their Sandi’s Surprise last Tuesday, won by Connie McArthur and Lexley Lewis on 59 points, counting out Grace Fourie and Suzette Olivier.
Next were Dawn Howden and Lesley Erasmus on 56 points.
Nearest the pin – Lexley Lewis (16th).

The men’s competition last Tuesday was won by Kim Howden and Pierre Malherbe on 34 points.
The Wobblers competition was won on 79 points were Dave Hepworth, Johan Human and Eddie Gommersall.
Second place on 76 points went to Marcus Donovan, Freddie Boshoff and Brian Jefferys.
In third place on 75 points were Nico van Vuuren, Hans Beilhartz and Dave Morrison.

The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Thys Bothma, Andre Henn, Frank Merrill on 71 points.
Two-clubs – Rob O’Farrell (8th). Nearest the pin – Johan Human (4th).
