SA Surfing Champs: See this week’s full programme at St Mike’s Beach [May 15 – 21]
The weekend rain didn't stop the event of the year going ahead. Checkout the full details of the week's schedule, and go down to support the surfers.
This year’s Tidy Towns South African Surfing Championships 2023 Open and Masters is set to kick-off.
The event will be in memory of surfing legend, Barry Wolins.
The recent rains may have left organisers of this year’s event with a bit more work to do, but they are not fazed.
“The sponsor flags are being raised as we speak, adding a pop of colour and excitement to the already buzzing atmosphere. And let’s talk about the surf conditions – they’re perfect,” said Stephen Herbst of Tidy Towns Shelly Beach to Margate.
Some 180 surfers have arrived from around the country and are taking advantage of the surf conditions, and getting a feel for the point break.
Stephen Herbst said that with everything coming together just right, they are feeling optimistic and ready to put on an amazing event.

18:00 – 19:00: Official opening
