Chandré to lead SKZN women’s cricket team

Come and support the local team when matches get under way.

Southern KwaZulu-Natal has entered a women’s team in the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union league. It’s a historic step for the region.
Aadil Moola, new president of Southern KZN, is pleased that this will now become a reality and that, for the first time in history, there will be competitive women’s matches in Port Shepstone, Durban and Richard’s Bay.

Chandré Bester, who has been coaching cricket at Creston College for the past four years, will lead the team.

She has played cricket since she was 10 years old and was previously involved in creating a girls team at Voortrekker – she also played club cricket for Oudskielere in Bethlehem.

In Port Shepstone, she enjoyed playing indoor cricket.

The new season will begin in September and while that seems far away now there is plenty of preparation to get the team ready to compete.

The recent success of women’s cricket around the world has been nothing short of mind-blowing and locals are encouraged to come and support the local team when matches get under way.
