Cricket reigns again, we hope

Despite the hot summer, there has been very little cricket.

Cricket on the South Coast finally resumed after rain saw the previous four weekends cancelled.
The Southern KwaZulu-Natal men’s side continued their dominance with a 206 run thrashing of Tongaat recently.
Batting first, Southern KZN set a massive 276 in 50 overs with Ashley Lombard smashing 114 off 75 balls.
Two standout performers this season, captain Cody Mortimer (51) and Jayden Scholtz (45) put in valuable contributions again with the bat.
Southern KZN rolled Tongaat quickly for 70 runs with Raja Kazi taking four wickets and Cody Mortimer four wickets.
They played their final fixture of the season on Sunday, against Umzinto, at Port Shepstone Country Club.
Cody rued all the rain, saying the team could have won the league, but was still satisfied with second in what has been a season of rebuilding.
Domestic club cricket finished the round robin stage.
The pick of the fixtures was Sezela CC beating Kings CC to claim the final playoff spot in Division 1.
Eagles CC are proud to announce their new kit sponsor Siyazama Bricks and Blocks.
All teams looked forward to the knockout which started last Sunday (12th).

Donovan Horne hands over Man of the Match awards to Marko Sukkels and Carl Nolte.
Theo Goldstone (second left) receives his Man of the Match award from Mbulelo Gcwensa, with Theo’s son Quinton and team captain Malcolm Heslop joining in.
