Plenty on the go at Southbroom Golf Club

It's a really fun time of the year at the club.

There has been a lot of quality golf played at Southbroom Golf Club in early season competitions.
The competition last Wednesday was won on 43 points by Glen and Tom Usher.

There were three pairs on 42 points – Barry and Andrew Stott, Bob Thomas and Ryan Dowdle, Uli Matzinger and Peter Badenhorst.

The Nashua open day last Friday was won by Jaco van de Wal, Deon Meyer, Piet Fourie and Johan Neethling.
Runners-up were new club captain Gary Purtell, Brian Jolliffe, Dave Sheppard and James Miller.

The annual Pro Day last Saturday was packed as always, and won on 45 points by Brian Jolliffe and Dave Sheppard.

Three adrift on 42 points were Mike Anthony and Richard Mills, with Grant Richards and Grant Richards Jr in third place on 40 points.

There were four pairs on 39 points – Warren Peterson and Gavin Edwards, Bob O’Callaghan and Ken Crawford, Connor Petersen and Bradley Petersen, Urs Diethelm and Tilly Nel.

In the ladies section, the winners were Heleen Hissey and Jenny Brewis on 41 points, followed by Louise Leal and Lesley Godley on 39 points.

Carding 37 points were Val Volck and Precious Mkhungo, as well as Biffy Dunn and Allyson Thomas.

On 36 points were Jeanette Peyios and Lyn Doveton, as well as Lindsay Owen and Bev Riemer.

The Spooner Rose Ball, played as a mixed greensomes last Sunday, was won on nett 67 by pro Derek James and Allyson Thomas.

Runners-up on nett 68 were Chris and Alexander Huber, with Shelley Myers and Werner Duggan in third place on nett 69.
