Father and son clinch Bilton Trophy at Southbroom

It was a special moment for the two.

The men’s Bilton Trophy was won by Grant Richards and his son Grant (13) on +14.

They were way ahead of second placed Martin Hutton and Phil Verwey, who had +9.

Grant junior had an 87 off his 19 handicap, one of his better rounds and you’d better believe there are more low rounds to come.

Third place went to Keith Bailey and Mike Lig on +8, with Geoff Skelton and James Miller next on +7, tied with Brian Jolliffe & Johan Wentzel.

The Curlewis Shield, played for by the ladies last Saturday, was won by Michelle van der Hoek on nett 72.

She counted out Jill O’Callaghan, with Sandy FitzGerald on nett 73.

The alliance last Wednesday was won on 86 points by Anton and Louise Leal, Shirley and Norman Jeffery.

Runners-up were Bruce Begley, Chris Miller and Peter Kupisiewicz on 85 points.

Third place went to Gary Purtell, Malcolm Greenland, Martin Hutton and Nicky Smith on 81 points.
Chicken Run: Nicky Smith 20 pts, Rupert Niebuhr 19 pts, Chris Huner 19 pts, Arlene Bailey 19 pts, Alex Crawford 19 pts.
