Taxi association opens office in Mtwalume

Community will also benefit from the newly opened Mtwalume Taxi Association Offices

It was a joyous occasion full of festivities for Mtwalume Taxi Association members who officially opened a new office in Nyangwini recently.

The master of ceremonies was Ukhozi FM’s traffic reporter, Ayanda Msweli who said the opening of a new office shows unity among the association’s members.

Msweli said it was good to see that the money being collected at taxi ranks is going to good use, rather than towards the assassination of taxi owners and drivers.

The office was the vision of one of the members and South African Taxi Council (Santaco) Lower South Coast Region’s chairperson, Lizwi Maphumulo who approached the association members to collect funds to build the office.
Maphumulo said the members did not waste any time and collected R150 every Monday from all the taxis in the association, and with the money raised built the office.

“It was great to see brotherhood between all the owners and members who supported this vision. As the Santaco regional chairperson the aim is for all taxi associations on the lower South Coast to have their own office, just like this one,” said Maphumulo.

He congratulated Mtwalume Taxi Association for all its efforts.

The association’s chairperson, Bhekumuzi Gumede said the office is a platform for commuters to communicate with the association.
