Influencer’s non-profit fights for equality

The multi-talented woman speaks out for men.

Fashionista, plus-size influencer, upcoming actress and entrepreneur Nonkululeko Madondo (43), has established her non-profit, Angiyukweswela Therapy Foundation which focuses on gender equality, assisting men who have been victims of abuse and couples coaching programmes.

The Ladysmith local has brought her services to Scottburgh and surrounding areas and recently worked with local drug rehabilitation NPO, Laqhakaza Iphara Recovery.

“I chose to do this because I have seen many cases of men being abused physically and emotionally,” she said.

“And because of the laws that favour women mostly, I saw a need to speak out for these men, breaking the shame.”
Nonkululeko, more commonly known as Dr Angiyukweswela the Thickness Squad Dr, added that this type of abuse really does affect couples, therefore her decision to offer counselling for couples as well.

“In society, it’s made to look as if women are heaven-sent while men are evil due to crimes such as gender-based violence, but this isn’t the whole truth,” she explained.

“In cases I’ve dealt with, it was women who triggered gender-based violence through constant abuse (not all, but most of them I dealt with).”

“Men are human beings too and should be treated equally.”

Nonkululeko has done work in Scottburgh before. She recently gave talks on gender equality in Amandawe and will be working closely with Laqhakaza Iphara Recovery, now that she has discovered many men and couples she has dealt with have developed alcohol addiction. The recovery organisation will see to it that this addiction is overcome.

This multi-talented woman has made herself fairly well-known, not just because of her need to help others, but because of her many personal achievements too.

Although she is an upcoming actress, she has already featured in the South African television shows Uzalo, Durban Gen and Imbewu: The Seed.

She has modelled and won first princess in Ntombenhle Africa 2021, and in May she was honoured with a doctorate degree in Community Development.

Nonkululeko has great fashion sense and enjoys assisting plus-size women hop on the latest trends.
