Sabiha hauls in prizes at Durban Region Champs

Magda van der Heever also competed in the bronze division over 18 holes and finished third with a good score of 75 nett.

The ladies Durban Region Champs took place at Kloof Country Club last Sunday, in perfect weather conditions.

Sabiha Bacaus-Hulley competed in the gold division, shooting 83 in the morning round, before going around in a blistering 75 for her second 18. She hauled in the prizes, including Best Gross and Nett in the Mid-Amateur category, and Best 18 holes Gross and Nett as well as overall Winner Best Nett in the open division.

Magda van der Heever also competed in the bronze division over 18 holes and finished third with a good score of 75 nett. Well done.

Father and son duo Tom and Viv Naicker played outstanding golf to win the fourth edition of the 2022 Betterball League on an incredible 45 points, thanks largely to an excellent 67 gross scored by Viv.

His great golf also saw him cash in on the jackpot scoring 11 points, amazing considering he only stroked on one of them! Tom and Viv each scored a 2-club, helping to boost their winnings more.

Second place on an impressive 42 points were Saga Reddy and Kavish Seepershad. Husband and wife team, Noel and Heather Parsonage scored 41 points, a score greatly assisted by a brilliant 4-point birdie made by Heather on the 18th.

Barry Taylor and Nelson Moonsamy counted out Mike Dennison and Steve Oliver for fourth place on 40 points. Others scoring two clubs included Bruce Sutcliffe, John Webster, Noel Parsonage and Sean Roberts (x2).

Russel McKelvey made 40 points to take top spot in the Wednesday field, beating out 36 others. Second place was Harold Horsley on 38 points, followed by Sue Boucher (36 points), Brian Kassel (35 points) and Claudio Bellato who finished in fifth place on 34 points.
