Margate Scouts learn to fight fire

Everyone got turns learning how to use the fire extinguisher correctly and the best way to handle a fire.

During the month of May the 1st Margate Scouts took part in a fire fighting day for their fire fighting interest badge.

Thanks were extended to Mike Lemon from MSL medical who travelled down from Durban to run the day.

The Scouts learnt about creating evacuation plans, looking out for possible fire hazards, what to do in a smoke-filled room and, of course, the best part, putting out the fires.

Everyone got turns learning how to use the fire extinguisher correctly and the best way to handle a fire.

The group also held an interactive meeting at the Umzumbe Farmers’ Market last Saturday.

The Scouts, Cubs and Meerkats invited all the children to join in and let them get a taste of what Scouting is all about.

Lots of fun was had and it is hoped more boys and girl will join to enjoy this outdoor lifestyle.
