Winter surfski series race postponed

A new date will be announced once the organisers consult with the KZN Canoe Union.

With Durban once again hard hit by flooding, the Durban Winter Surfski Series, which kicked off at the beginning of the month with the Marine Grading Race, has now come to a halt.

The second of this five series race is the Marine Golden Mile Challenge which was scheduled for last Sunday at Marine Surf Lifesaving Club, but the organisers decided it would be in everyone’s best interests to postpone the event.

Many of the beachfront roads were under water and the wet weather made it unsafe for participants travelling from various parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

A new date will be announced once the organisers consult with the KZN Canoe Union.

Thereafter, the Bay Union King of the Bay and SBS Tanks Pirates Umhlanga Pirates races will follow, and the famous Scottburgh2Brighton race will bring the winter series to an end.
