The Lions will monitor the situation closely and try to assist again should the need arise.

Lions immediately sprang into action and organised an initial donation of 100 5-litre bottles of water, supplied by the Living Word Church in Umtentweni. These bottles were delivered to the project on the same day by Lion Dale McGarry.

Then, the club then secured a donation of R5000 from the Lions Club of Reitz in the Free State and a further anonymous donation of R2000. Sheppie Lions then provided an additional R3000 and purchased R10 000 worth of water (740 x 5-litre) at a reduced price. The bottled water was delivered by the supplier directly to the project in Hibberdene on May 4, where community members were already waiting in line to receive two bottles each.

Lion Lady President Estelle O’Neill, Lion Richard Borradaile and Lion Lady Jane Massey officially hand over the donation to Felicity Govender, who runs the Hibberdene Food For Life project.
