DEAR Editor;
Whatever happened to the bridge in Southport remains a mystery.
The Herald has asked many people, including paramedics and the police, but nobody seems to know what happened.
It was rumoured that a vehicle did crash through the railings and into the river but this is unconfirmed.
A long stretch of concrete railing has been taken out, at a guess it must have been by a vehicle. Concrete barriers have been used to block the gaping hole.
This bridge sees a large amount of traffic, and motorists are warned to be extra careful.
If anyone knows what may have transpired, please let us know!
