March highlights 16 days of activism against violence

It was attended by a diverse group of supporters.

Coastal Resource Centre, an NGO working to empower vulnerable groups in rural communities organised a march to conclude the 16 days of activism against violence directed at women and children recently.

It was attended by a diverse group of supporters and started from the Amadiba clinic, via the Mzamba police station and ended at the Wild Coast Sun.

This activity was part of the Women’s Voice and Leadership-SA programme for the internationally recognised campaign implemented by Gender Links through a grant from Global Affairs Canada.

Young women and adolescent girls from rural communities also participated through the support from Her Voice Funds, including representatives of key population groups supported by Aidsfonds (Love Alliance), to show solidarity in the advocacy activity.

The representatives of the groups delivered a memorandum and were received by a representative of the station commander at the police station.

The group also donated posters to the victim support centre located inside the police station.

Nomnikelo Mbuthuma, Admin Assistant at Coastal Resource Centre called for greater collaboration to fight incidents of violence and other crimes against women and children.

At the Wild Coast Sun participants were debriefed by Nthando Simelane, Director at Philisa Imbokodo and Mandla Simemane, Project Coordinator at Coastal Resource Centre.
