Brave heroes acknowledged

National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) Station 39 Rocky Bay had the pleasure of acknowledging five brave members of the public recently for the roles they played in drowning prevention and rescuing swimmers at Rocky Bay, using NSRI’s pink buoys.
Neeval Ramchander, Gareth Salmond and Nick Bell accepted their certificates of appreciation from station commander Kevin Fourie at the sea rescue base and had the opportunity to give the audience of crew and family members their account of their rescues.
Fourie also personally commended the men on these acts of bravery.
Locals and fellow rescuers Rustin Naidoo and Richard Gibson unfortunately could not attend the ceremony.
Ramchander accepted Naidoo’s award on his behalf, while Bell accepted Gibson’s.
