A GIRL (9) was raped on three occasions at her home in Amahlongwa Mission, Emabaleni Ward near Umkomaas during 2012.
A case of rape was registered by the Umkomaas SAPS and the docket was assigned to Detective Constable Vuyo Mahlikihla of the Umlazi Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit (FCS) for investigation.
The 28-year-old perpetrator is the victim’s father’s cousin whom she looked up to as a father figure. He lived in the same house as the victim.
On three occasions, when only the two of them were at home, he called her to his room and raped her. The man was arrested and charged with rape. He appeared in the Scottburgh Regional Court on Tuesday, June 17 and was convicted of rape and sentenced to life imprisonment.
