KINGFISHER BOWLING ASSOCIATION
After a long layoff due to the various lockdowns and restrictions, Kingfisher Bowling Association has been fortunate to have hosted a number of competitions over the past few weeks. Here are the results.
KBA Midweek League
Men: Winners – The Bell; runners-up – Port Shepstone CC.
Women: Winners – The Bell; runners-up – The Bell.
KBA Mixed Fours
Winners – Umkomaas (B Mathias, S Mathias, M Folly, J Buys); runners-up – The Bell (J Theron, R Duyts, B Nicholas, C van der Westhuizen).
Open Singles
Men: Winner – Rodney Winnan (Riverside); runner-up – Bruce Hoyer (Hibberdene).
Women: Winner – Michelle Greig (Riverside); runner-up – Pam Cole-Cook (Margate).
Veteran Singles
Men: Winner – Glenn Hatfield (Southbroom); runner-up – Fred Hutchins (AMBC).
Women: Winner – Liesje de Rosner (AMBC); runner-up – Trixi Smith (Margate).
Champion of Champions
Men: Winner – Alex Bukes (Hibberdene); runner-up – Brian van Rooyen (Widenham)
Women: Winner – Leoni Booth (Port Edward); runner-up – Franci Philpott (Margate).

MARGATE BC
Winners of the open trips were Ron Weddell, Graham Dunlop and Pauline Dunlop.
Second place went to Tiens Zietsman, Hugo Pio and Kobie Ritchie, while Gary Hess, Dora Vosloo and Mervyn Barratt walked away with the session prize.
Winner of the 50/50 prize was Raban Pillay.
Coming up:
Thursday, September 16 – Honda Tabs Challenge at 14:00.
Friday, September 17 – Crayfish Inn Women’s 2-bowl trips at 09:00.
Sunday, September 19 – Jacks & Jills at 09:00.
Wednesday, September 22 – Vereeniging Riverside Bowls Fun Day at 14:00.

HIBBERDENE BC
The nominated mixed trips, sponsored by Hibberdene Spar, was won by Luke Pohl, Hans van der Walt and Dina van der Walt.
Runners-up were Alex Bukes, Cheryl Knight and Les Horner.
Session prize went to Eddie Milne, Judy Hoyer and Judy Aiston.
Due to the closing of the green for maintenance our next competition will only be on October 2.
It will be a drawn mixed trips, sponsored by Warwick Wealth, starting at 14:00.

Winning the September Open Trips at Margate BC are Graham (seated) and Pauline Dunlop, with Ron Weddell.

THE BELL
The ladies Covid Challenge came to end last Wednesday with Kobie Stander and Dora Vosloo winning from Sharolyn Dacey and Dina van der Walt. Funds collected from fines were donated to South Coast Hospice.
The novice invitational pairs was played this weekend with Gary Vogt and Brian Rawlins of PSCC ending up being the winners and Tillie Kirkland and Alex Bukes the runners-up.

TWENI
The Abingdon Spar mixed trips competition winners were Kevin Mullen, Tony Aveyard and Larraine Harris from Mike and Findlay, with Karen Delaney. Session prize went to Keith Mills, Tammy Gibbons and Frik Jansen van Rensburg.
The previous week’s drawn pairs was won by Johnny Meyer and Karen Delaney, from Albert van Niekerk and Vernon Strauss.
Session prize went to Richard Cochman and Ruth Findlay.
