Umdoni News: Service delivery improvement takes centre stage

Housing woes are expected to come to an end as Umdoni Municipality continues to hasten the process of building safe and dignified homes for various community members.

Umdoni Municipality’s key focus is to accelerate service delivery across all communities, putting more emphasis on developing rural communities with the view to breach developmental gaps that exist between rural and urban domains of Umdoni.

The Umdoni leadership in both the political and administrative wings commits itself to ensuring the implementation of numerous multi-million rand community development projects in the 2021/22 fiscal year.

Members of the community will be pleased to know that the municipality has commenced with the primary stages of the implementation of these projects, with several involving construction of community halls and sports fields, re-gravelling and maintenance of municipal roads.

Housing woes are expected to come to an end as Umdoni Municipality continues to hasten the process of building safe and dignified homes for various community members.

As alluded in the 2021/22 budget speech, a provision of 300 units will be made per project for the Amandawe Rural Housing Project, Amahlongwa Rural Housing Project, Vulamehlo Housing Project in Mistake Farm area in ward 6, Vulamehlo Rural Housing project which will cater for wards 1, 2 and 19, Malangeni Rural Housing Project which will benefit wards 7, 8, 9 and 11 and the KwaCele Rural Housing Project that will benefit the community of ward 17 and part of ward 18.

To fight the lingering scourge of poverty, unemployment and inequality in our communities which has been further intensified by the recent community unrests, the municipality through these projects advocates for employment of local labour thus positively contributing towards the alleviation of this triple threat to the wellbeing of our communities and economy.

The municipality therefore commits to ensuring that it continues the journey of improving the lives of its communities through enhancing its efforts to deliver basic services.
