Youth addiction awareness created through soccer

There were no specific teams playing in the tournament which turned into a big friendly game for all Umgababa youth players.

In celebration of Youth Day last week, Laqhakaza Iphara Recovery hosted an addiction awareness soccer tournament for the Umgababa youth at the Mnini Sports Ground.

Chairman of the recovery movement, Emmanuel Msomi, said the purpose of the event was to show the youth that they can have good clean fun with sport instead of engaging in activities involving alcohol or drug consumption.

Soccer players received messages of strength and hope from Emmanuel and his team as well.
“It is important for us to cheer on our youth and keep them feeling positive about the things they do so they do not stray onto the wrong path,” he said.

“We work with people from different religious, cultural, racial and even political backgrounds to spread awareness,” explained Emmanuel.

“Without Mr Singh and the soccer players of course, events like this one would not have been possible, so thank you to all.”
