Sabiha shines at Midlands Champs

An unusual wind for June had everyone guessing as even when it was at your back it didn’t seem to help much.

Sabiha Bacaus Hulley seems to have found a new favourite golf course, namely Victoria Country Club.

Following a great team performance for Inter-Region there a few weeks ago, the Umkomaas GC star played magic golf over 36 holes at the Midlands Champs held last Sunday.

Shooting 158 gross, she was three shots behind the eventual winner, Kayla Saunders from Durban Country Club, but scooped the best nett prize on a three-better-than-par score of 140 nett.

Saturday’s field was smaller than usual given that many members were playing in the annual Sardine Run and others competing in the Industrial League.

Harold Horsley and Norman Mackay played steady golf and emerged victorious on 64 points, one ahead of runners-up, Graeme and Chris Coxell, determined by count-out from Russel and Evija McKelvey.

Pippa Bruce had a great day taking home the money with 12 points in the jackpot and a two-club. Lovely to see Pippa back on the course and we look forward to having her back in the league side soon.
