Reckless drivers apprehended in Tweni

According to Police Spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge, police searched the vehicles and discovered a number of firearms, six of which did not have the necessary documentation.

The Saps Port Shepstone Search and Rescue as well as the Saps K9 unit stopped two Durban based security company vehicles after driving recklessly.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning last week and the vehicles were stopped near the main Umtentweni traffic lights.

According to Police Spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge, police searched the vehicles and discovered a number of firearms, six of which did not have the necessary documentation.

“The firearms were confiscated and will be sent for ballistic tests to establish if they were not used in the commission of any crime,” said Mpinge.

He added that four people were fined, three of which were security guards, and the company director was fined under the Firearms Control Act.

A fine was also issued for reckless and negligent driving.
