Night bowls comes to Margate BC

Bonus points were awarded if teams win both games and at the end of the day all of the points were added up and the team that accumulated the highest score won.

Margate Bowling Club treated its members to an evening of fun and light-hearted bowling on Friday last week.

The fun night began with three teams that were split into two teams of five and points were awarded if by teams who win a game.

Bonus points were awarded if teams win both games and at the end of the day all of the points were added up and the team that accumulated the highest score won.

“It’s been very good. It’s been difficult for every club. I mean you just got to try and stick to the protocol which is what we’ve been trying to do, as you can see, for spectators etc. We’re trying to keep in line with the government protocols,” said club president Lance Marshall.

The club hosts four sponsored competitions every month every Friday, sponsored by various companies, namely Southcoast Mall, Sasol Garage in Margate and Spec-savers in the Shelly Centre.

A current league that began a few weeks ago is also underway.
“We’ll be restarting again next Saturday. We did play a few games before, took a break and now we’re starting again,” Marshall.

He also encouraged members of all ages to join the sport. “It’s a nice game. It’s not necessarily for old people, we’re trying to encourage young people as well.”
