House robbery interrupted by resident in Amandawe

The victim screamed to alert his children of what was happening and the suspect fled with whatever goods he already had in his possession.

An Amandawe man was startled by a gun wielding intruder at his residence on Monday morning this week.

The man initially heard noises coming from the dining room at about 7.15am that morning, and while making his way through the house to investigate what the sound was, he was stopped by the intruder whose identity was masked with a balaclava.

The intruder had already begun raiding the house at this point.

The victim screamed to alert his children of what was happening and the suspect fled with whatever goods he already had in his possession.

A television set, cellphones and cash was stolen.

Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis, makes an appeal to the public to ensure that driveway gates and burglar gates are always locked as a precautionary measure.

Anyone with information regarding the house robbery is requested to contact Detective Warrant Officer Njabulo Latha of Scottburgh Detectives Service at 039-9781900.
