Life sentences handed down to 10 sexual predators

Between October 1 and October 31, 409 suspects were arrested across the province for various cases including rape, sexual assault, statutory rape, child abandonment, kidnapping and attempted murder.

Investigators from the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in KZN have managed to rack up an impressive 34 convictions for sex-related crimes.

The perpetrators were sentenced to a combined 277 years in jail, with 10 culprits receiving life sentences.

Between October 1 and October 31, 409 suspects were arrested across the province for various cases including rape, sexual assault, statutory rape, child abandonment, kidnapping and attempted murder.

KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula welcomed the sentences handed down to the culprits.

“As we are approaching the 16 Days of Activism, we will make sure that we leave no stone unturned in our endeavour to bring justice to victims of sexual offences.”
