Several arrested during joint police operation

Roadblocks were set up and stop and search operations and suspect raids were conducted at hotspots in the Mthwalume and Qoloqolo areas.

A multi-disciplinary operation was conducted in Hibberdene recently by various police stations within the Ugu District, together with other law enforcement agencies.

The operation was carried out under the watchful eye of the Station Commander of Port Shepstone SAPS, Brigadier Sandra Nala.

Roadblocks were set up and stop and search operations and suspect raids were conducted at hotspots in the Mthwalume and Qoloqolo areas.

Awareness was raised on gender-based violence, and pamphlets on various issues such as drug abuse were distributed.

According to Port Shepstone police spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge a number of arrests were made.

“Ten undocumented persons between the ages of 21 and 47 years were arrested and four persons were also arrested for dealing in dagga. Two rape suspects were arrested for cases in Hibberdene, while two men aged 17 and 20 were arrested for house robbery.”

Arrests were also made for possession of suspected stolen property, housebreaking, theft and dealing in liquor.

In addition, an imported vehicle with no documents was confiscated.

Ugu District Commissioner, Major General Sethenya Nxamagele was pleased with the successes achieved during the operation and commended the officers for their contribution.
