Scottburgh Lions Club is here to serve its community

While not being able to go out and perform their duties, the Lions are instead sending out a newsflash to inform people of what they actually do.

The Scottburgh Lions Club was forced into an early “hibernation”, even before winter, due to the nationwide lockdown regulations.

Even though they’re still not in operation, the Lions would like to assure everyone that they have not forgotten about anyone nor their duties, and will be back in action serving the community when they’re allowed to.

The Lions raise funds and give their time freely to help the less unfortunate.

Some may already be familiar with of their activities in the community such as free eye testing (available in Scottburgh through their club) and diabetes screening.

“Young diabetes sufferers have the opportunity to spend time together at Lions sponsored camps learning to manage their disease in a recreational atmosphere with peers and professionals who understand their problems,” said Lion Wendy Barwell.

When lockdown is lifted. Scottburgh Lions Club will again offer free diabetes screening at Scottburgh Mall on the first Tuesday of every month from 9.30am until 11.30am.

The club meets at least twice a month and the bonds of fellowship forged through club participation helps members raise the funds needed to carry out their important local and worldwide service activities.
