Man in court for house robbery, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition

A toy gun resembling a genuine firearm was also seized.

Two men were arrested in the Southport area and a .38 revolver which was stolen during a house robbery in KwaHlongwa last month was recovered by the Hibberdene Task Team and a Hibberdene detective recently.

A toy gun resembling a genuine firearm and four rounds of ammunition were also seized. Both suspects, aged 47 and 19 years respectively, were taken in for questioning. The younger man was subsequently released.

The suspect made his first appearance in the Umzumbe Magistrate’s Court for the house robbery on June 1 and the matter was postponed to June 9. He made another appearance in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. This case was postponed to June 23 for bail application.
